History of Chandeliers Book FREE to Donors

ALA Education Foundation donors will be the first to receive copies of the lighting industry's just-printed and eagerly-awaited, comprehensive pictorial of the chandelier. Entitled The Chandelier Through the Centuries, A History of Great European Styles, the book is only available to ALA Education Foundation donors making a $50 minimum donation.

Commissioned by Savoy House, a leading lighting manufacturer, 100 percent of the book's profits will benefit ALA's Education Foundation, with the book being used as an educational tool for members throughout the association's certification training program.

"ALA appreciates the generosity of Savoy House," said Dick Upton, ALA president and CEO. "By donating all of the proceeds to the ALA Education Foundation, they're enabling us to develop additional education programs. This is a great benefit for all of our members and for our industry."

Kerri McCaffety, called one of the great photojournalists of our time by Esquire magazine, created this first-ever account of the chandelier's grand history.

While exploring the chandelier's rich and diverse history, McCaffety fashioned a detailed account of classical and period lighting in one, all-encompassing publication. The book features elaborate period pieces photographed in authentic period settings. Partnering with historians, professors and art curators, she's brought the chandelier's history to life with great accuracy and great beauty. It is a feat so exemplary that the Library of Congress has recognized The Chandelier as a publication that will serve to impart knowledge and creativity for future generations.
