Pillars of the Industry

James E. Decker

James E. (Jim) Decker, vice president, brand management for Progress Lighting, receives the 2011 Pillar of the Industry award in the manufacturer category for his exceptional leadership in the development of the decorative lighting industry’s first product data standard. Decker has been a key member of the ALA Finance Committee and the Governors Nominating Committee. He also served as the chair of the Electronic Technology Committee.

Fred C. Fennell, CLMR

Fred C. Fennell, CLMR, owner of Fennell Marketing and Sales, Ltd., is this year’s recipient of the Pillar of the Industry award as a manufacturers’ representative. He serves as chair of the Canadian Government Affairs Task Force. Fennell has served as chair of the ALA Board of Governors and has been a member of the Long Range Conference Committee and the Manufacturers’ Representatives Steering Committee.

Larry W. King, LS

As the champion behind the ALA’s educational efforts, Larry W. King, LS, president and owner of Capital Lighting, receives the 2011 Pillar of the Industry award in the showroom category. King was instrumental in assisting the ALA in the transition to online webinars and the development of the Certificate Specialist monograph series. He serves as the chair of the Education Foundation Board of Trustees and the foundation’s Nominating Committee.
