Pillars of the Industry

The annual Pillars of the Industry awards recognize up to three ALA members (manufacturers’ representative, showroom and/or manufacturer) for their unique and meaningful service to advance the lighting industry and the ALA’s program and mission during the previous 18 months. Award recipients, nominated by ALA members and staff, are selected by the ALA Awards Committee. Nominations may be submitted to llauck@americanlightingassoc.com.

David A. Gatto

David Gatto has been with Westinghouse since 1990, and currently serves as a manager for product compliance.   Along with David Turner, Gatto also took a leading role in rewriting DOE’s 75 rules affecting the ceiling fan industry, providing expert opinion on the rebuttal to the DOE’s proposed regulations. “The amount of time spent on this extensive project has not gone unnoticed, and we are pleased to recognize these men for their hard work and commitment,” says Upton.

 

Wendy A. Lofing-Rossotti, LS

Wendy Lofing-Rossotti has been with the family business, Lofings Lighting, since 1985. As a Showroom pillar recipeint, she works closely with Nicole Juneau, assisting with ALA education topics. Juneau says “Wendy is always there to help me organize topics and does anything I ask her to do.” She was    instrumental in establishing webinar series on key topics for ALA education and also a member of the 2011 Membership Campaign committee, and has served as moderator for many showroom networking groups.

David S. Shiller

Shiller started Lighting Solution Development in Pittsburg, Pa. in 2011.  From 2010 to 2012, Shiller   served as the Co-chair to the ALA Engineering Committee, was an attendee for both the 2012  Washington, DC Mission and also the ALA-EPA Workshop for LED requirements. During that time, he also stopped a fixture light-output test for LED fixtures. 

 

 

David R. Turner

Turner joined Hunter Fans in 2003.  Turner, Senior Project Manager at Hunter Fans, was nominated and selected because of the leading role he took in rewriting the DOE's 75 rules affecting the ceiling fan industry.  This was no small task, and it took hundreds of hours of research.  In response to the DOE's numerous proposed regulation that threaten to impact the industry and the marketplace.  Turner provided expert input to rebut their numberous proposals.
