Pillars of the Industry

The annual Pillars of the Industry awards recognize up to three ALA members (manufacturers’ representative, showroom and/or manufacturer) for their unique and meaningful service to advance the lighting industry and the ALA’s program and mission during the previous 18 months. Award recipients, nominated by ALA members and staff, are selected by the ALA Awards Committee. Nominations may be submitted to llauck@americanlightingassoc.com.

Richard M. Alan, CLMR

Richard Alan, CLMR, owner of Richard Alan and Associates, LLC, in Katy, Texas, was the ALA membership campaign leader in both 2011 and 2012. He has been one of the ALA’s most active membership recruiters, bringing in 24 new members this year. In 2010, Alan earned his CLMR designation, and in 2011 and 2012 he served on the ALA Education Foundation Board of Trustees. He also served on the ALA Young Executives Task Force from 2010 to 2012.

 		 Ronald D. Milam

Ron Milam, owner of Lighting Emporium, Inc. in Springdale, Ark., has been instrumental in developing governmental relations with key members of U.S. Congress, including Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.). Milam is a member of the ALA Government Affairs Committee and he has participated in the annual ALA Washington, D.C., mission trip every year since 2008. He is also an ALA-PAC contributor.

 		 Joey I. Sadofsky

Joey I. Sadofsky, president of Alico Industries in Markham, Ontario, has been the chair of the ALA Manufacturers’ Steering Committee since 2010. As a member of the ALA Canadian Government Affairs Task Force, he has represented the association at critical meetings held by key organizations such as Natural Resources Canada. Sadofsky has also been a key member of the ALA Long-Range Conference Planning Committee.
